#googlewaveinvite wonder how useful googlewave really will be, as opposed to email+chat. Only one way to find out! bull.matthew_at_gmail.com
So, SDK 3.1 is out, and to most of the world there’s really no difference to the iPhone’s functionality.
To a developer, however, there are a number of changes, notably in the area of the camera.
Specifically, UIImagePickerController properties cameraViewTransform and cameraOverlayView allow the kinds of things some clever people have hacked until now. That is, things like using a custom overlay on top of the camera view to make it look like it’s actually part of your app, or adding a kind of zoom functionality.
All of which puts me in a bit of a quandary. Do I bother implementing these things, slowing down development on my humble little app still further? Or do I press on with things?
I think I’ll take the latter course. Trying to work out the oddities of the iPhone’s camera has been an uphill struggle for a first app. In particular I’ve found it hard to understand why a camera image gets processed in a different way from a gallery image, so it gets flipped round by 90 degrees. It’s just weird.
So adding in yet more functionality right now seems overkill. I’d rather keep things simple.
@GustavS congrats on the app! All we need now is spotify app + airfoil + airtunes, and my head might explode at the awesomeness…
@eldsjal nice!
spotify iphone app out at last! Android version out too apparently… http://tinyurl.com/n4py4e
need to get the app finished before I head off on holiday for a week. Guess it’ll take Apple a while to turn it down/accept it anyway

putting finishing touches to Phlomo. The UI is always tricky to get right. Hope to submit to Apple soon.
